PowerPay Celebrates a Season of Giving with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine

Portland, ME - December 10, 2012 - Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Southern Maine donors gathered on the evening of November 29th in celebration of the second annual Start Something Big Event. PowerPay, once again, hosted this festive event, which, through the generous donations of patrons, helped raise over $4,000 for BBBS of Southern Maine.

PowerPay's office was decked to the halls and perfectly suited to welcome guests looking to celebrate the Holidays. "We're always so grateful for PowerPay's involvement in this event. From helping us with design and promotional media, to decorating and coordinating volunteers, their commitment to our community and to this organization is apparent. We had a great turn-out tonight and raised over $4,000 in donations", said Sam Beal, Executive Director of BBBS of Southern Maine.

Together, PowerPay and BBBS of Southern Maine formed a community partnership in 2008 through PowerPay’s GIVE Program. The GIVE Program enables participating merchants to join a charitable campaign that benefits BBBS of Southern Maine—at no cost to the merchant—simply by processing credit card transactions through a PowerPay merchant account.

"We're very pleased to help support Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine," states Jim Raftice, President at PowerPay and BBBS of Southern Maine board member. "We realize that many local businesses would like to be able to donate to such a great cause, but may not have the means to do so. Our GIVE Program gives those businesses an opportunity to provide financial support without adding additional expenses and many times even saving them money."

As the nation's largest donor and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters across America make meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 7 through 17, in communities across the country.
